Default Factory Sirius ?

I have a 2008 with factory Sirius and single CD stereo. I am looking at getting aftermarket double-din DVD player that is Sirius ready and was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to use the factory installed Sirius antenna with the new head unit as I don't want to have to use a magnetic one or something when I already have a perfectly good one. I have read that if you unplug the antenna wire from the receiver and remove the plastic piece on the end it will expose the metal plug and it will plug into a Sirius Doc but I don't believe that's the same style plug-in that would be on back of a head unit. Anyone tried this ?

A sirius "ready" radio will still require the Sirius "receiver"...but you should still be able to use the stock antenna as the connections are the same on all the sirius radios

So you're saying I could remove the factory receiver and buy one that's compatible with the new head unit and be good to go ? Thanks for the response.

It seems like the antenna connection on the receivers all have that plastic piece... see the pic

So at that you just have to make sure the head unit and receiver are compatible.

I was told by a salesman at futureshop that I could use the factory antenna with an aftermarket dvd player, just get the sirius reciever for the brand of dvd player you`re getting. I called sirius and once installed all you have to do is call them and get your subscription transfered over to the new receiver, all you need is the new serial number.
