Default Largest tire on stock 2500

I am wondering what is the largest tire that anyone has stuck on their stock 2500's on the factory rim. Will a 35 12.50 17 fit or will you need a spacer for that? Or is the 285 75 17 as large as you can run. I do plan on leveling the truck in the future I just haven't seen enough positive research on leveling the trx4's yet and don't want to void my warranty by modifying the suspension just yet.

My girlfriend had 285/75/17's on her truck with no problems at all but they still looked small. I put 35x12.5x17 on her stock wheels without a leveling kit and they rubbed on the lower control arms at full turn, some guys say they have no problem. In an effort to stop the rubbing i found a set of 1.5" spacers on ebay for $75 (i have an extra1/4" on mine so i didnt have to cut the wheel stud) and the 35's ended up rubbing on the lower fender and the plastic valence on the front bumper. With an aftermarket offset wheel they'll rub on the lower fender too. My friends 35s rubbed on his 06 2500 in the same spot with M/T classic two wheels.
Leveling kit with spacers/offset wheel and you shouldnt have any problems. Neither his truck or my girlfriends rub anymore.
I dont know much about the trx4 package but I highly recomend Hell Bent Steel leveling kits. I did alot of research and they were most recomended across the cumminsforum. There all steel, computer welded, all the hardware you need and they were by far the most inexpensive of all the ones I looked at.

The thing with the TRX4 is it is 1" taller already. Adding a spacer would only add 1". I think you need to find a special spacer since I dont think they all fit. Since you have the TRX model you might be able to fit the 35s. Only thing like said above you need to get the tires out, so either a spacer or wheels. It would be better to go with some wheels with a negative offset, but there is a pretty big cost with that. Some wheels might be cheap take a look.

Yeah the problem with the trx4 Ive heard is it is not in the vehicle data base as a trim model. So for the slight differences it does have finding parts is near impossible. it is basically the trim/body of a Laramie but there is small suspension differences in the front end making finding a leveling kit that is a confirmed fit impossible. I even had the guys at bill stein looking into it for the 5100's and they said that the normal 2500 shock will work so I want to trust them on that. Thanks for the pics and reply's I think I will go ahead and get the 35's. i wouldn't be satisfied with the 285's. I can get a set of these for $230 can a tire in the 35 what do you think ?

A stock 2500 length shock should be fine with +1 in. Theres enough travel in them that HBS says its ok to run stock length shocks with +2" leveling kits.

That's not a bad price. Take some pics of the truck with the new rubber on it and let us know how the fitment works for ya.

I've been running 35's on my stock 05 HD 4x4 2500 for the past 3 years. I have no rubbing or spacing issues. You'll be fine with 35's.

I would'nt say fine. For some reason these trucks are always different. What works for one doesn't work for another.

Between my friends 2500/3500 and talking to guys on other cummins forum most need a leveling kit and an offset to the wheel because of rubbing and have only heard of a few with only 35's and rubbing.

I popular combination seems to be a leveling kit with hummer wheels and 35's

i would call the guus at top gun customz, they seem to be very good with these 2500's. i would be willing to bet they have a leveling kit that would work for your truck.

Tires fit with minimal rub at full lock. I just need to level it now for looks. Thinking HBS for price but might want to spend the money on a carli or Kore system. Still not sure. I like the idea of a system incorperating the bilsteins with it.
