Default Wierd engine / drive train noise Help?`

Hey guys and gals...

The past few months im starting to notice a odd sound coming from my engine and or drive train....

its somewhat hard to explain but its fairly loud and only occures with rpms increase / decrease.

heres a small example if you can relate... if you take a remote control car or something batery powered and is off... you turn the wheel to move the engine and you heard the motor somewhat whine... thats exacly what it sounds like or close to it...

You dont hear it on idle... only when you accelerate or decel...

its loud enough to hear it over my gibsons exhaust or coming down the road. I dont get to hear the exhaust or engine... ill hear that whyning over everything... extremely eratating and makes it sounds like crap... and im figuring its not really "normal"

and its not the intake spacer whissling lol.. that only kicks in when i get on it

Any ideas?

THanks!

I would run the truck and listen to the power steering pump or one of your other pulley operated devices.

i got into some pretty deep muddy water and got a similar whining noise shortly thereafter. thought is was one of the belt pulleys and after replacing the third one, no more noise. i have since bought a mechanics stethoscope - you'll know immediately when you place it on the bolt holding the pulley if the bearings are bad. http://www.harborfreight.com/mechanics-stethoscope-41966.html is what i'm refering to

Have you checked your fluids in the diff's? Maybe pull the cover's and see what runs out?

Sounds like your alternator bearing is singing.

Ya I think so too, I have the exact same thing happening with mine, it happened the day i drove through some flood water. I tried to pin point it but couldn't, had a shop check it out and couldn't find it for sure. I've read similar sounds on forums and it was the alternator but other than that it works fine so i don't wanna replace it... i tell you what though, I was thinking of eventually getting some sort of forced induction, but after hearing that its distracting from my exhaust so eff that lol and annoying as hell!

It'll charge right up until it fails. Then it won't. If you have a 136a, there is a factory 160a that bolts in its place.
