Default Programmer for a 2003 Hemi??

Alright I am wanting to get a good tuner/programmer for my 2003 Ram Hemi. It looks like the popular two are the DSP and SC Flashpaq. It also seems though that there is not much that can be done on the 2003 model... Both companies list a lot of their tuning features to only go as far back as the 2005 or 2004 trucks. I would like to adjust things like speed limit, rev limit, tire size, trans options if possible. I just don't want to drop the cash for a tuner and not be able to customize that much with it... So I guess my question is for what I want to do what programmer will be best suited to my needs. Other brands are also open for consideration. I dunno if SCT or Hypertech or Bullydog have anyhting good out there.

Although not sure what It will do for your year model, I just got a SC 3865 flashpaq for my 05 hemi, I'm pleasantly surprised by the changes it has made in my truck. I didn't think I would be able to notice, but I have. I've only used a few of the quick tunes in the programmer. I havent done anything w/ the advanced tunes, rev limiter, trans options, etc. Don't know if that helps you any.

No handheld programmer can program more than one vehicle at a time, otherwise we'd all have friends and the companies would make no money. Plus, it holds your factory program. The 3865 will adjust your speedo for tire size, your rev limit, speed limiter on top of the high perf programming for the engine. I have heard sworn up and down that on the '03's it does something to the torque management, but I still don't believe it. That's about it, we're kinda left out. SC trans control starts with the '04's.

I have the Hypertech power programmer III 50013 also. You cannot adjust the tire size. But you can adjust the Rev limiter, trans shift firmer, canned tunes for 89, 91,93 octane. Top speed release to 116mph and 126mph. I don't think there's much you can do for an 03 and 04m because they have the PCI bus and not the CAN bus.

Im also new here, and was looking for the same thing a reader/programmer to read trouble codes for a 2004 1500 5.7L I have three mods factory ECM reprogram for better shifting when hauling trailers, CAI, Flowmaster catback (most agressive they sell). My inspection station passed my vehicle but told me im getting a problem with my exhaust sensor (engine light is on). So rather then pay my garage just to look at the truck $100+ I wanted to see if I could fix it myself. Which programmer would be good for me? My level of repair is minimal with oil changes and basic maintenace the extent of my abilities. Working a computer device shouldnt be a problem as im a computer technician. I would love a programmer that would allow me to squeeze more MPH out of my V-8 presently im getting at best 12mpg which should be at the very bottom of everyones worst MPG. I only have 19000 miles on the truck. I would rather pay more for a better device then save money and get something that works poorly. Thanks in advance.
