Default 2011 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Radio Upgrade Assistance

Hello all, new to the forum, been looking up a lot of info, and some of these questions I have asked already, so I do appoligize. I want to uppgrade my system, I have the stock 6 speaker system. I have a kenwood head unit, JL audio 6x9, and JL audio amp from my current ride i would like to reuse.
My questions, is the 2011 the same as 2010?
Anyone have pics of any upgrades? ( I plan to take some and post when I do it)
Are all the speaker sixes in the doors 6x9 ( The JL Audio ones i want to use have a mounting depth of 3.06 inches.
What is the best place to mount the amp? and, if I do it under a driver or passenger seat, how do I secure it to the door?
What is the best way to retain the factory steering wheel settings?

I am trying to make the best decisions, I am even considering keeping the factory head unit, and just adding the amp and all new speakers, for ease of retaining the steering wheel controls.

Any assistance would be apprecated.
feel free to email ides right to me at sfd124@twcny.rr.com if necessary.

Thanks again all.

You are on the right path. 2011 is the same as 2010 far as upgrading audio goes.

The door speakers are 6x9", you may need 1/2" spacers to get your JL speakers to fit properly.

There is an adapter available through PAC to retain your steering wheel controls.

Mounting the amp under the driver seat is probably better since the passenger seat has the jack under it. You can run the wires right down the side of the truck, or go under the carpet near the middle. Just be sure to keep the RCA and power wires separate to reduce the chance of any noise interference.

Chit,

THanks for the input. I just took my JL audios out of my old car, and looks like thay come with 1/2" spacers already, so I should be good. I also have a set of Kicker KS600 6.5 out of my car, I plan to use them with an adaptor to bring the 6x9 hole down to 6.5 Crutchfield sells them.
Which doors should I put the 6x9 and the 6.5 in? in your opinion. I was thinking the biggere ones in the back.
Also, I have heard from some users that the PAC adaptor has a delay and not all fucntions work for the steering wheel controlls. I have a kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 head unit if that helps. I may upgrade that to an in dash nav, but I want to wait and see if I have a need. Any recommendations on models?
Also, if I may, one more question. How can I mount the amp to the floor under the drivers seat? obviously space is limited on getting a drill or screw driver in there.

Thanks again.

Hey Kozzy. I'm interested in seeing how your upgrade goes. I'm in North Syracuse near the Airport and I'm going thru the upgrade process myself. I went with 4 Polk MM691 6x9s and 2 3.5"s. Also gonna try and mount two Amps under drivers seat. Keep me posted man.

I paid $400 installed for my westins. Probably better prices online, but I was too eager.

You can just take the covers off each dash speaker. Just be careful not to scratch the dash, but all three pop off with a bit of prying.
