Default Want to install some interior lights

So I have read and can agree that the ST Ram does not have the best interior lighting what so ever. What I have decided to do is to install some small directional LED lights on the bezel some where, maybe just below the A/C knobs, to shine down on the fold out cup holder.

What I don't know and can't find on here is how to wire them so they come on when the rest of the interior lights come on. I do have auto lights so I think that would be cool to have the LEDs tapped into that circuit.

Any help or thoughts please!!

In your driverside A-pillar, the line running to your dome light; I'd tap into that line and run a set of LEDs off of it. I have tapped into mine and am running about 15' of led strips off of the stock line with no issues.

You should be able to just run a wire up through one of the side pillars to the map lights. Just find the wire that has +12 volts on it when the door is opened using a volt meter. You might want to run another wire from the switch on the dash though so can turn the lights on manually.

I have mine spliced into there and everything works great.

But will that give me the desired effect? Which is that the lights auto turn on when the rest of the interior lights turn on. I'm not an electrician but seems like if I tap into the dome light wire then the LED would only come on when the dome light does.

It would come on every time your domes come on. Like when you open the doors they will come on along with the other lights.

Does anyone know how to tap into the auto light circuit to have add-on light work in conjunction with the dash lights?

either do it yourself or have a stereo shop install a positive wire for you through your accecesories wire under the dash then you can put in a toggle switch somewhere to turn them on and off when ever you want but it wont kill your battery because they only come on when you turn the key but engine doesnt have to be running. ive got flex LED lights mounted under the dash on driver and passanger side and they create a cool effect then just ran a ground wire to the back of the truck and drilled into the metal brace under the seat and used a self taping metal screw and wiring connector. make sure to scrape off the paint then repaint it so it doesnt have any way of rusting
