Exclamation Help hid conversion kit wont work on fog lights

hey guys i recently purchased jlm conversion hid kit with 2 ballasts and 2 hid bulbs off amazon.com. when i installed this kit it worked for a min and went off. im guessed that a short circuit or one of the fuses blew. and it was just the fuse. thank god.. now im wondering if i should still try to install these kits and add a capacitor since the hid ballasts are 35w and requires 55w? Or should i just buy new hid kits from somewhere else.. any suggestions? thanks guys..

What wattage hid kit do you have?

Fogs are 35w not 55w , 55w are lows.

Fogs are usually plug and play, cheap kit should be just fine.

Unless its hooked up wrong?
hid bulb plugged into ballast and stock harness?

everything is hooked up properly. i tried this twice and all it did was it blew the fuse.. do you have hid on ur fog lights? if so what kind are of brand are they?

also ive been reading about how dodge rams need capacitors to fool the system into thinking the lights are running 55w when the hid id running 35w. is that true?

The fogs don't have that problem, low beams have issues.
Currently I don't have fogs, but when I do I will buy a 35w hid kit for them.

Maybe your ballast is bad?
Try installing hid just on one side. If it doesn't fire up, switch to other ballast.
if that works, then the other ballast is bad.

OEM fogs are 45watt.

Did you try reversing the connectors on the harness? You don't need anything else for the fogs because the fogs on all Rams are plug-n-play unlike the low beams.

Make sure that all of the connections are good. Take the bulb out too and if the small sphere inside of the bulb is cloudy then the bulbs are shot but honestly, I doubt the bulbs are bad. You just bought a cheap, low quality kit. Live and learn.

For my fogs and lows I went with DDM tuning for mine and many, many people have begun getting their HIDs. If you decide to get HIDs from them do it asap because they are not going to be selling HIDs anymore and quantity is very limited.

Another though, make sure that 9006 connection (from the ballast and the OEM harness) is connected.

Good man here! If they were reversed that sounds like his problem.
