Default Trans maybe fuel problems?

I own a 2004 Laramie 4x4 2500 and my truck is having some issues while driving. What happens is that while I'm driving it'll jerk pretty violently between gears. It started doing it while cursing at ~20mph in neighborhoods. It felt like it would jerk from 1st to 2nd and would eventually pick one and would lock itself in that gear. Meaning it wouldn't down shift or upshift until turned off.

However this morning it did it while I was driving at 65mph on the highway. It dropped to 3rd then 4th and finally it would just leave it in neutral until turned off.

The truck idles and drives fine (with the obvious issue stated above) it doesn't burn oil or coolant and the tranny oil seems fine as well.

Any ideas were I could start?

No codes showing? If the transmission is shifting and when it does, that is your first indication of a change, I'd check out the transmission control module or have the PCM scanned.
