Default Not sure what goes here

I just bought my first Diesel, a 2007 Dodge 2500 4x4 Big Horn with a 6.7 and it only has 845miles on it. First I'm about as new as you can get. Not sure hom these chatrooms or forums work. I've modified many gas vehicles but never a diesel. Any mods I do is first for reliablity then for perfomance, which is why I came here. After some research the only problem with the 6.7 seems to be the DPF and EGR systems. My buddy has the 5.9 and gets 20mpg and I only getting 14.5 mpg. Buy by-passing the DPF and the EGR system with an H&S Maxx programmer this is said to fix these problems. The power gains aren't the reasons for doing these mods but are diffinetly welcomed. What I would like to know is, are these mods heathy and good for my engine? Longevity and reliablity is more important. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated.

These mods will void your 10/100 powertrain warranty so keep that in mind. Diesel parts aren't cheap.

My girlfriends dad did a dpf delete and has an H&S minimaxx tuner. I highly recomend it as the first thing to do to the 6.7
Even with the stock tune just to fool the computer into thinking its in passive regeneration constantly, the power difference was very noticeable, fuel mileage is comparable to the 5.9s, in the long run you'll save yourself plenty of headaches of going back to the dealership after the truck throws itself into limp mode.
The H&S tuners also have software to do some other pretty cool stuff to the truck. I'm a big fan of keeping the foglights on with the highbeams.
Is your truck automatic? The stock clutches with the 6.7s seem to slip with any tune over 30hp stock.

Also look into your local emision laws and keep in mind you'll have to return the truck to stock for warranty work.

Deleting the DPF will void the engine and emissions warranty.

deleting the DPF does void warranty in some dealerships but i highly recomend doing it.. the soot that goes back into that motor is the worst ive ever seen. TREE HUGGERS. it WILL longjevitise that motor and will increase ur mileage!!!!! We have done numerous DPF deletes with no issues what so ever..Milage is very important do it

Opening up the EGR plates was one of the grossest things I've seen. It was like engine sludge in the intake.
