Hi, I have a 2500 Ram with a 5.9L Cummins turbo diesel. I reads "D" on the hood sticker behind "turbo". Anyway, it is hard to start when it gets just below freezing. It also burns oil a moderate amount for about 5 mins until it warms up. Starts good when warmer outside & doesn't burn oil - it is bluish anyway ( could it be diesel ? ) The "wait to start light" comes on. I let it cycle for 12 sec b4 trying to start. Then it bucks & chugs, then afthier about 15 sec it finally starts to run smooth. I don't think that being just below freezing that I should plug it in. Does it need a new fuel filter ? Or how to check fuel pressure - seems almost like it looses its prime. Could also be a glow plug or preheater problem ? How could I check that ? Need some help as I leave for work @ 5 am, neighbors are probably mad.
Thanks in advance
