Default couple of questions

First of all I would like to say thanks for all the info so far and this forum has been great! Im just curious about a couple mods I have seen on alot of trucks here. The oil catch can is an interesting add-on, what for? Im assuming now that these engines are internally vented this helps keep your engine cleaner? And a 170 or 180 degree thermostat, now I used to run lower thermostats in my snowplow trucks for obvious reasons, im just wondering if your running these lower temp thermostats for some type of extreme use, or just think they run better at lower temp. And if these mods require any type of mod to the computer system aswell. Thanks

Most people on here switch to a 180 stat claim a small performance gain. No mods to the PCM are needed to do this but obviously reprogramming with a tuner will add a much larger gain than switching the stat.
