Exclamation 2011 Dodge Ram 4wd Service Light

So I was driving my truck the other day in 2wd and stopped at a light. The roads were icy so when I pulled forward my truck made the grinding noise and the slip light came on which is normal by then I heard a ding and the 4wd service light came on. I pulled over turned the truck off and started back up and the light was gone. I even switched from 2wd to 4wd with no problems and the light never came back on so I just disregarded the warning. Well the other day the same thing happened again an now I'm a little worried. Is this a common problem and does anyone have any idea of what it could be. My truck has the 5 position transfer case if that makes a difference.

He has "auto 4wd" along with full time 4 wd , 4 lo and 2wd. Along with neutral button, that makes 5. They refer to it as a 5 position transfer case as opposed to a 4 position tranfer case on page 54 in the manual. Give the guy a break

Well I guess I won't be asking the guys who didn't even know that the truck can come with a 5 or 4 position transfer switch anything. This is the picture of the 5 position transfer switch. If you don't have any useful comments then don't comment just to get your post count up.

Well, I guess I won't offer any professional, qualified advice to someone who doesn't even take the time to find out his transfer case is the BW 44-44 and not the NV 243. Best of luck getting it fixed.

Don't worry too much about it. I'm sure you'll get some legitimate help here soon! (Sorry, I'm not smart enough to have any answers)

Don't be an ass. Not everyone knows everything about the trucks and everyone is willing to help.

It sounds like you had a momentary fault that wasn't a serious enough problem to repeat itself. I would be more concerned over an event where the service light did not clear.

Thanks Spindoc and RamTech I would like help it just gets aggravating when my brand new truck is acting up and because of a typo no one takes the question seriously. I typed this forum up on my phone and didn't take the time to look over what I typed. Also I do realize which type of transfer case I have. I might not know all of the answers regarding this truck but I'm not an idiot either. I'm just going to bring my truck in for service and see what they say.

It's not the fact he doesn't know the nomenclature of his case but the fact he expects everyone to know that his particular case is referred to as a 5 case (since edited to 5 position case) and the way he replied to my question. Miscommunication is a predominant reason why problems aren't able to be duplicated when test driven by technicians.
