Question CAI Price vs. Power

I plan on buying a cold air intake within the next week. I am looking at the Spectre 9931 because it is the cheapest. I was just wondering if there was a reason for such a difference? $96.04 Spectre vs $230.65 K&N from amazon as of now.

I would imagine it's just because of the branding. K&N is more top end and all their products are more pricey. The spectre kit looks great because it actually has a heat shield so it is an actual cold air intake. And $100 sounds like a good price too!

I think bang for the buck is dominated by the hand held tuner!!! Check out diablo sport and superchips....these will make much more difference for a little more than a CAI!

He's got a point. Although Diablo doesn't make a tuner for 5.9's, Superchips does. But if you're getting a tuner, talk to hemifever@aol.com and he can hook you up with an SCT tuner which would be best for a 5.9.

No problem. They make programmable tuners that can be used on 5.9's. Hemifever buys them and loads tunes on to them specific for a 5.9.

I guess you're hooked on the Spectre but I achieved the same performace with a retro Chrome 14x3 and a spectre filter and probably have less than 75 bucks in the whole thing.
BTW I had a FIPK...

I got the Spectre this past week from Amazon for 95.79 with free shipping. Plus online orders avoid the 9.8% tax we have here in AZ.

Okiespaniels - I love the old school look but with the valley's heat - I've got to lean more to the fenderwell air than sucking in the engine bay heat on top of a nice 110* day.

Yep, I live in midwest TX so temps vary from stupid hot in the summer to stupid cold in the winter. I went back a few pages and saw that I neeed a longer breather hose for this intake, at leat how long does the tube need to be? I will be going to town tomorrow so I can get a length of hose.
