Default is it torque converter

it goes in gear shifts to 2nd goes for 3rd loses drive but still feels like its in gear any ideas

If it were a converter problem, it should do it in all gears, not just 3rd.

Thanks for your response. Do you have any ideas what it could be? Also it is slow when switching between drive and reverse. It takes a little bit before it grabs.

mien was 1.5 qt low and was doing that.

i did a new filter, and fluid with some solenoids and a sensor, put the amount the book said of atf in, checked it and was fine, after driving around and checking it in neutral, not park, it was low.

yea do a fluid/filter change, do a little driving

maybe have your bands replaced/or just adjusted

you could have stuck selenoid.
