Default reading knock

Sorry Im new to the dsp. I decided to hook up dsp to check for knock today. When I am recording live data there is two parameters going. The first one moves around a little bit while I drive around. (starts @ 15 and goes down from there.) They other one stays @0.

I guess my question is this normal. Im guessing the second one is degrees in KR? but Whats the first representing and is it supposed to move? Is this the timing advancing or something?

Its normal to see some knock in the 2009-2011 rams.
But you should only be seeing it at certain places.

Usually when flooring it you will see some knock for a few seconds, and again from a dead stop if you floor it also.
The only time you need to worry about it,is if you see the knock continues to rise when accelerating.

Diablo has the best datalogging software of any programmer out there.
If you monitor st(short term) knock, and LT(long term knock),you should only see st knock when datalogging.
If you see LT knock numbers then you know your truck is pulling timing, and that means you do have a problem.

Even changing out your exhaust and not using all your exhaust hangers can cause enuff vibration to trigger some knock.
The last thing you should ever do is touch your knock sensors or adjust them.
If you have knock It is Not because of a bad sensor, but check the tq on the sensor just the same.
I quite often see about 3-3.5 % knock when im trying to floor it while driving, but it goes away right away.

Another thing worth checking is to monitor all 8 cyclinders for misses, you can monitor each individual cyclinder, this will help you trouble shoot,to make sure its not a bad coil,or spark plug wire causing the problem.
I run Superchips Now but wish I had my old Diablo for datalogging.

It would be nice to have a visual aid to see what the gauges look like and a more in depth explanation of what the engine is doing to create knock and what the proper solution is to help prevent damage to our engines. Specificly with the Trinity.

yea. My problems were that I wasnt reading the LT and St knock readings or my knock voltage. I was watching some other parameter. It was a huge relief. This dsp is sweet.
