Question 3.9 v.6 turbo

Hi! My baby is a 98 dodge ram 3.9 v6.
I personally think the truck has potential, but it lacks performance and mileage!

its well taken care of, and only has 170km on the engine. everything on it is solid, but I'm having diagnostics done soon for codes.

I'm not looking to race anybody or make an ass of myself in the streets but im looking into giving it a small turbo for mileage and a little more power.

I have a access to tools, and help in order to install it myself, so would I be able to run a small turbo with 4-8 psI. I am also thinkin of replacing the air intake to cold.
No, again I'm not looking to romp on it.

yes, I know there is another thread similar to this.

170K is kinds high to strap a turbo to, but then again ya never know. I was gonna do a turbo on my 98 Dak 3.9. A buddy of mine is into boosted engines. He was saying a TD04 G16 would be a good turbo. It will flow enough air while spooling up quickly for a good low end boost.

I would beef the bottom end and freshen the heads while you're in there. 3.9 can use the same valve gear, rods, pistons as a 318 (which is what it was derived from). This means you can use aftermarket forged stuff, etc, the only problem being I don't think anyone makes a forged crank for the 3.9. I don't know for sure though.

That's a big negative on the forged crank. I looked all over the place. There are company's out there that will make one custom for a whole lot of $$$$.

Oh the 5.2 rods will only fit if the crank has been clearance for them.
