Default Dear Dodge

Dear Dodge,
Its a long shot that anyone in charge of building trucks will read this.
But just in case that 1 in 1,000,000 chance happens, here is what myself and several friends want in a truck.

A reg or super cab 3/4 ton truck, long box, 4 wheel drive, posi rear diff, with the hemi engine I already love, no need to change that, but please make an optional gas tank that holds say 200 litres for extra range, and also option driving lights that are insanely bright.

But keep reading here is the most important thing.
It NEEDS to have a MANUAL transmission.
This tranny must be at least 6 speeds, with a 1st gear super low for pulling boats out of crappy launches, or hauling a heavy load up a tight switch back road in the sand or mud.
Everyday use would have a driver using 2nd to start away from a stop sign.
But the top gear, be it 6th or however many speeds you make this gearbox will be very tall for highway use, while keeping the revs low when not towing.
I am not a guy that needs fancy stuff in it, so just A/C, sirius radio, comfy seats for long drives, a good heater for winter, and controls i can use with gloves on.
Please keep off the sunroof, traction control, 8 gazillion airbags, bluetooth this and that, and other stuff that just adds complexity, weight, and cost.

If you build a truck like this, I will buy 2 of them as soon as they are available, thanks. :smiley_thumbs _up:

It's a crying shame that the engineering department won't take suggestions from consumers. In fact one member wrote directly to them and that was the response he got.

except for the fuel capacity
You may see something like what you want within 2 years, it will still be an automatic transmission, BUT, with a 9 speed in the 4X4s
8 speed in the 2X4 models

Where have you read about a 9 speed? I haven't heard a word from Chrysler about anything but the 8 speed.

I wrote them twice now, about a year ago, and 3 or 4 months ago again.
Not even a response to either letter.
I want to buy 2 new trucks, sadly I can't find what I want.
So I guess its going to be a used trucks, and rebuild them.

If they made a manual I would likely buy it, and just have to carry an extra bunch of gas.
Really 200 litres is not that much, I am surprised they don't offer tanks that size now.

i have an auxiliary tank in my trucks bed, so i can carry a total of 64 Gallons = 242 Litres, but i lost some room in my Rams bed & was expensive
http://www.transferflow.com/toolbox_tanks_0.html

i suppose you could always put a tank where the spare tires goes & keep the tire in the bed

You can have almost all of that... But you have to "settle" for a diesel engine instead of a hemi... My truck is a 6 spd, with a granny low first gear, 6th gear is good enough for 85mph highway cruises, and you can get the 2500 in a reg cab/longbox configuration.
