Default WARNING LIGHT BLINKING / 2009 Laramie

I went to pass a truck today and as I was just getting around him a warning light on the lower left side of my dashboard started blinking. As I started to give it some more gas it started acting like it was going to cut out...not much power kinda knocking and shaking so I pulled over to the side of the road, killed the truck, and got my owners manual out and saw the warning light had something to do with the catalitic converter needing looked at. I sat there for a couple of minutes and then cranked it back up and continued on down the road. Another three hours on the road and it never acted up again. I had the bed loaded down with so much cargo it was squatting pretty good. When I went to pass the truck I put my foot in it and the rpm's revved up really high that is when the warning light started blinking and all the problems started. Anybody ever have anything like that happen to them? I would appreciate your comments.

A flashing MIL indicates a misfire bad enough that it can cause damage to the converter. You should get it to the dealer and let them look at it.

No, I think it was number 27 in the owners manual. It looked like an engine icon.

That's the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp) a.k.a. check engine light.

I am thinking I caught it switching maybe from fuel saver mode to regular mode because rpm seemed to spike for just an instant before the light started blinking and I was hauling a lot of weight in the bed anyway no more problems the rest of the trip, but I never put my foot in it again either

There are codes stored in the PCM and you really should let the dealer have a look at it.

The MIL light came on again yesterday and stayed on this time, the past couple of times it has blinked several times but has always gone off. Since it stayed on this time I took it to the dealership today and they told me all the codes were stored and they could not get to them so they could not tell me what had gone wrong with my truck. They reset it and sent me on my way and told me to bring it back if it happened again.
