Default 4WD Low?

So i start with the car in 2wd. I can switch to 4wd high whenever with no problem or noise. The i go into 4wd low and it sounds like the trans is droping out from under the truck. then i go back to the neutral and it goes fine, but when i go to 2wd it sounds like the trans is dropping out again. Any answers?

How are you shifting into low? You should be rolling along about walking speed with the trans in neutral (or the clutch depressed) when you shift into low range. Once in low, pull it back into drive.
