Default Need help on first mods

Hey hows it going everyone? Today was my birthday and as a gift I decided to get myself some running boards/nerf bars and a bed cover. My buddy has this leather tri fold bed cover very easy to take completly off and put on and very rugid. Definatly the one Im getting. Other thing is I want to get some side steps.

I like the 4 or 5 in oval bars. Truck is Mineral grey sport with the chrome 20's. What color would you guys get? Black or chrome? Also whats a good brand to get. I really like the oem ones but damn they are expensive. Anyone wanna share some close up pics and and some personal experiences with there choice for me? Greatly appreciate it

Thanks guys

-Greg

I personally like the wheel to wheel style steps. I have a set of N-Fab steps on my 07 Ram and I love them. I actually get compliments on them, I have never gotten compliments on steps befroe haha. They are not a nerf bar they actually have a step which is cool for a lifted truck. Go Rhino also makes the same style ones as N-Fab. I am not sure if those 2 companies make a nerf style.

I have the OEM ones on my 11 Ram and I actually really like them. They look really good and unlike the 3rd gen style ones they actually work. The oem ones on my 07 Ram were not very useful, they were not really a step haha. If you want to go with the nerf style then there are lots of different options. You can go wtih Dee Zee, Westin and Aeries. Those are the ones I know of.

I would go with the chrome if you have a mineral grey. The only time I would go with black is if you dont have any chrome but you have black accents. You would really have to go all mineral grey and black...no other colors.

Here is a pic:

Your truck looks great. Wheres the best place to buy the OEM running at? Also who makes a set of running boards that look exactly like the OEM ones just not OEM lol.

I'd stay away from Aries. The mounting system is pretty flimsy and the steps flex a lot when you put weight on them.

Happy Birthday!

The nice thing about a Sport, particularly in grey, is that you can go in either direction. Personally, I think black would look best and let the wheels be the only chrome bits on the truck.

Someone on here posted some step rails the other day that were aftermarket, but I though they looked just like the Mopar ones. I'll see if I can find it.

Here it is:

http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread....ight=nerf+bars

I think they look very similar to the Mopar ones.

Ok well after reading and looking at some stuff Ive come to these two types.

http://www.runningboardwarehouse.com...2010-1500.aspx

or

http://www.realtruck.com/raptor-magn...011Y693MA.html

I seen in the reviews that the Raptor's had some problems with chrome or the polish durablilty. People said they scrathed easily and one guy had surface rust after his first snow storm. I get snow here in maryland every year so I need these things to last. Im liking the pad style better on the first one.

You'll want to stick with polished stainless to avoid any rusting issues. They just use mild steel under the chrome ones. I can't speak to the scratching easily, but they'll all scratch to a degree... polished stainless more so than chrome.

I dont mind the scratching I just dont want them to rust especually after one snow fall. So based off what you said which do you think are worth the money? I like the look of the first ones more becuase the ends bend in slightly and are not just a straight step.
