Hello and welcome to the ForumZ ! I think I know the tick you are talking about. My truck is a 08 with the 4.7 and I also have a ticking sound but have had no issues. I have seen a few threads about this in the last week or so and am unsure as to what it actually is. I will probably end up taking mine in soon before my warranty is up just to be sure but have not found any definite answers besides it could be minor to serious. I'm hoping it is a common thing and not serious but better safe then sorry. Keep us posted and if you find out anything be sure to let us know and I will do the same. Good luck !

I'm thinking a possible exhaust leak due to a broken manifold bolt. 4.7's aren't prone to noises like the Hemi tick.

My 4.7 dakota had a little tick which sounded like it coulda been the broken manifold bolt which from looking around the internet seems to be common and seems same can be said about my 4.7 ram I wouldn't lose any sleep over

I would. It's rare that it ever happens, but it could cause damage to the exhaust valve of the corresponding cylinder.

it could be a broken exhaust manifold bolt...but is it just on start up? if it before i rebuilt my engine the lifters would tap until enough oil was brought up to the heads to stop the tapping

My 3.9 did the same, a piece broke off inside and tore my converter apart, wouldn't go over 30mph. replaced the converter today and it runs fine but the tick is still there. have to replace the exhaust manifold tomorrow.

I stand corrected but seriously if your that worried about it and cant figure it on your own go to a trust chrysler tech no offense. All im saying is you might be getting a little paranoid about your vehicle I know I do sometimes and look into noises that most of the time end up being nothing. Good luck and get back to us.

My 03 4.7 had 2 broken exhaust manifold bolts on pass side. Look around there.

I have an 09 RAM TRX-4, 4.7 ticks on startup but goes away when it warms up, could it be the fuel injection system?
