All i did was cleean them really good with an sos pad and some warm dish soap and water than dryed them off than i just taped off the curves in the bumper and than i just painted the pipes with plasti dip did about 1 can each on each exhuast front to back and they have held up soooo good, but i didnt have to detach anything kept it all on while i painted

From my understanding (mind you I haven't checked yet) the tips can be removed pretty easily and put back on the same way once dried.

I need to get me some plasti dip

That's correct sir I just didn't feel like bolting and unbolting them, but the dip is holding great
