Default smoke from the exhaust

Hi there,
as I am pretty new to owning a truck I have a very limited experience and knowledge about how it is and how it should be. So I decided to post this question and hope it is not too silly.

My 2010 Laramie truck often smokes from the exhaust. I wonder how much smoke is normal. I noticed it is much more intense when the truck is cold, and the smoke is always very light and sort of vapor-like (not dark from burning and not blue from oil). Now I know every car smokes more when it is cold than when the engine is nice and warm, but I can't help but notice that mine smokes much more than any other car around here.

I base my question on the fact that I am in Europe and that here US trucks are very few, so I compare mine with cars that are very different. I cannot compare my smoke with another Dodge Ram, as there are none around where I live.

So basically: how much smoke is normal? Can someone maybe even post a video in YouTube so I can see?

Thanks!!

Does it stop when the engine gets up to running temp? Water vapor is normal in cold weather; mine will exhibit the same vapor for the first twenty minutes or so when cold out.

Yes it does kinda stop after it gets warm. My concern was only with the amount compared to other cars, but as stated, I have no experience with similar trucks, so it might as well be completely normal...

I would assume your truck looks like it is doing it more than the cars because your truck is probably pushing out a lot more exhaust than your average little car motor.

On a real cold morning I start both my truck and my wife's car in the driveway and you can almost lose them in the smoke...but it's normal...if the smoke was anything more than vapor I would be concerned.

Just so you are clear on this: It's not smoke, it vapor. Smoke is generally associated with oil burning and will not dissipate very well (could take several minutes or more). The water vapor (same as what comes from your nose/mouth on a cold day) dissipates within 15-25 seconds at the most. You have a larger displacement engine than most European cars (except the big sleds) so there will be more volume. Just look at the tail pipe size difference between your truck and their cars. Blown head gasket aside (you would notice a large loss of coolant if you had one): The only smoke you should worry about is the smoke that trails you going down the road, when the engine is warm, and it looks like you are leaving a trail for miles. That's bad both environmentally and for your wallet.
