Default Lift and Tire question

I am planning on upgrading my 2.5" leveling kit to a 6" suspension lift. I have been shopping around for the lift kits and wanted to see what you guys thought.

BDS=Mucho Expensive from what i could find. So i think it is out of the running.

Pro Comp and SkyJacker about the same price. Leaning towards SkyJacker w/nitro shocks.

Tires i was thinking i wanted to keep my stock 17" rim but according to SkyJacker I should upgrade to 18" rims. Which is ok i guess, i can sell the others w/ the current tires since they have less than 5k mi on them.

I am trying to find a good agressive looking tire that a.) won't wear to nothing in a few months and b.) won't wear my pocket book to nothing.

So anyone with any good info on how to best shop for tires let me know. I've looked everywhere online that I can think of.

Thanks anways but I coulda saved the time of signing up and given myself the amount of information provided... zilch nada nothing

I find it pretty funny that on the "newbie check in" i got a whole bunch of pre-scripted messages touting how much help i could get...not sure if any of the posts in that thread were anything but a cut and paste.

Hahaha man you gotta wait for the right people to be on. Also a lot of guys dont want to keep repeating themselves.

ANYWAYS!!

So if you dont want to go with the BDS kit then that is a shame, that is a damn good kit. If you are not going with them then I would definitely say go with Skyjacker. The Pro Comp kit I have heard sags which is never a desirable thing. I do not know if they do that on the new Rams but I have heard it about other kits.

You will have to upgrade the rims since the steering knuckles are different then stock. They adjust them to allow for a 2" lift by the knuckels, causing them to change profile. This is why the 17" will not fit anymore. You will have to go with an 18" rim and check what the backspacing is supposed to be on the rim. You should go with something the same or at least close to the specified backspacing. I have a 6" kit too, I had rims already and their backspacing was .3" more and they still fit. So you can be close and get away with it. Try and look for a negative offset in the rim as well. This will bring the tires out away from the truck giving more room and reducing the chance of rubbing.

If you want to go with some tires that wear well then you are going to need to go with an A/T tire instead of M/T. The best ones out there are Nitto Terra & Durra grapplers, BFG A/T KOs, Toyo Open Country A/T, Mickey Thompson ATZ. If you dont want to break the bank then I would say go with the Mickeys since they are not as expensive and they also wear pretty good. I have them on my truck in a 35" and they are really good. They look cool and they ride great. I am not too sure about cheaper tires but take a look at Interco Tire's website and check out their line of tires. They have the Truxsus STS and the SS M16 which are cheap and the are A/T. There are the Cooper LTZs and that is all I can think of haha.

So I hope you get more then ZILCH NADDA NOTHING!! hahaha. I am surprised no one has posted here actually, but OH WELL! Oh and by the way if you dont get an answer then you dont need to be a little queer box and start bitching. Do some research on your own and find shit out for yourself. Thats how I figured stuff out, Google is an amazing thing. There is no need to talk crap about this forum when there is a lot of amazing info on here. Also your question has been answered 100x so that crazy little button that says SEARCH actually works! Ya god bless to ya too!

Thanks for the reply....i did do some research on my own via google and searching the threads. I was just hoping to get some information from people who already had similar set ups. So anyway here is what i have ordered.

The wheels are pretty sweet...

I ended going with 35" Dune Grapplers and a 6" Pro Comp Suspension lift.

Thanks again
