Default Door Locks

Hey Guys, New to the forums! So I bought my 2008 ram 1500 about three weeks ago. After about a week I was having an intermittent problem with my door locks. Sometimes they would work just fine...but sometimes some of the locks, most frequently the drivers door, would not work with fob or switch. I brought it back to the dealer and they said it was the gauge cluster, which they replaced free of charge. So now my issue is just the rear passenger door(quad cab) does not work at all, so I started investigating. What I found is if I manually lock from the inside and try to open from the inside the door still does not unlock. So I am lead to believe this is a mechanical issue not related to my previous electrical problem. Do you fellas have any ideas for me. I really don't care to bring it back to the dealer and drive a camry again for a week! lol

When you bought the truck, a good portion of the price included the warranty. Might as well use it.....you paid for it.

That said, are you sure that's not normal? I know my 2010 will not unlock the doors with the inside door handle....you have to unlock the door first. Does your drivers rear door unlock with the inside handle? If not, I figure there is an issue related to the previous work, and would recommend going back to the dealer.

If you armed with a box of donuts for the techs, you might even get it looked at quicker....might not either, but the donuts thing has certainly served me well.

just a thought
on the drivers door, do you have the electric window control for all windows?
on that same panel, are there 3 other buttons, that don't control the windows?
2 are the door lock & unlock buttons
the third one if there is one, is child safety door lock, if it is in the locked position, you won't be able to unlock the doors from inside, except the drivers door

brad12kx, I did try my other doors and they do unlock when opening from inside.

GTYankee, I do not have a child lock button on my door I am aware of. I did switch the child lock on that individual door back and forth to see if that worked but no luck.

The door lock in question I can not control other than by my hand moving it up and down manually.

Thanks for the help so far guys, keep it coming.

I think there may be a either a wiring issue (connector off) or issue with the new module. I would seriously consider taking it back. Who knows, it might turn out to be very simple for the tech that originally did the work.
