Default Just got our New Engine for Town!

Well our Volunteer Dept hasnt owned a new apparatus since 1960's which we still own. We finally got a Fed Grant and approval for a new Engine. Well Yesterday was the Day when our TOYNE Engine made its way to SVFD and let me just say it is amazing. No more Open rear cab and now it holds 4 in the back instead of 2. Its amazing how well thought out the truck was made and everything is done right in the USA. Pictures will be soon to follow and we are currently working to install radios and gear to get it in service.

Congrats of the new engine! Riding in open cab engines for the first 10 years of my career contributed to my hearing loss.

I guess its got alot of new safety features on it for us Crew. Supposedly if the truck senses crew in the rear seats you cant even shift it until we are each buckled in. Good in a way as we hardly ever straped in. All the Pump controls are up inbetween the cab and rear body with a bench seat for controller. I just hope all goes well with it. Should last us many years!

When I started in the fire service in 1972 all 3 of our pumpers were John Beene's sitting on Ford Chassis'. There was no rear seat. You rode the tail board. I sure miss those days.
