Engine and Cab choice likely plays a role.

They may only build regular cabs at one plant (due to low production numbers) and most Hemi Trucks may be Mexican and 3.7L/4.7L Trucks USA since that saves on shipping cost for one of the heaviest components.

The new 1500 was not built in Mexico until the HD Trucks transitioned to the new body.

My 2010 Crew Cab 4x4 with 4.7L is a Warren Truck.

PS The rumor is the Mexican trucks have better fit and finish and fewer reported problems than the USA Trucks.

Maybe we could take a poll or something and then find out from those that are having issues (hopefully very few) where their trucks were built? That would be interesting.
That's a good idea. Let's do it.

Truck: 2010 Ram 1500 Crew Cab ST 4x4 (Warren MI)
Engine: 4.7L Powertech V8 (Detroit MI)
Transmission: 5-45RFE (Kokomo IN)
Transfer Case: NVG243 (East Syracuse NY)
Front Axle: 8.0/205 (Detroit Mi)
Rear Axle 9.25/235 (Detrioit MI)
Tires: Goodyear SR-A (Canada)

I have no known defects: Everything operates as designed.

I do quibble with some of the pcm programming. I dont like the dead spot on the 1-2 shift caused by the pcm cutting power. I wish it would upshift to an indicated 6th (I know Chrysler calls it a 5-Speed) at less than an indicated 56 mph and that it would downshift to 5th automatically to maintain speed on grades. Instead it will lose 3-4 mph and then downshift from 6th to 4th. It is also slow to allow an upshift to 5th once speed is regained. On the other hand if I select 5th manually before I start up the grade it simply maintains speed in 5th.

Default Hope its not built in the usa!

Sorry i know it sounds bad, but i bought a 09 ram rt and traded it in on a 2010 ram rt. The 09 was built up north and the 2010 was built in mexico. World of a diff between the two. The 09 built up north in the us was junk, rear gear needed to be replased in 2000 miles, the dash and center made all kinds of noises, the driver door rattles the 2010 ram rt in mex no problems. I was shocked. Iam all about giving work to my brothers, but if this is what your going to give me for my hard earned money, sorry bring it mexico.

The line in Mexico is more highly automated so you get a better product at the end of the day. It roughly costs an American manufacturer $5000 per person to run a line in mexico compared to $50000 per person in the US. When you have a hundred person assembly process, it is very easy to justify additional sensors, camera, pokeyokes, etc, when the equipment ends up in Mexico because of the cheaper labor rate. I see it all the time. We will put a $10,000 dollar vision system on an assembly process that goes to mexico, because they cannot do anything right, and then that same customer will order a duplicate machine to be used in a Michigan plant and request that the vision system is left off and part quality will be left up to the operator.

Also, the plants in Mexico take quality very seriously. I was very surprised by this on my first trip down there.
