Default No Starting 2004 2500 with 5.7

I have a 2004 with a 5.7 that is not wanting to start. It turns over and has fuel pressure, but no spark. The last time it ran, it started, ran 2 seconds and died and hasn't fired again. Ran fine the week before.

Is there any common problem, like a an ignition module or something else that these engines are prone to? I know this is an ambiguous question, but I am struggling with this thing. I'd like to avoid getting it towed to the mechanic if I can.

Its a 2004, 79k miles, manual trans, 4x4.

Thanks in advance,

SB

You might try a crank position sensor. Keep in mind that throwing parts at it can sometimes cost more than a tow and diagnosis.
