Makes me think it is coming from engine compartment or directly underneath the cab, or maybe front end. Maybe it's just soemthing vibrating somewhere. Anyone experienced this?

Also, sometimes when I come to a stop light, my truck will slightly lurch, and I think I got rearended by someone going about 1mph. I'm guessing that maybe the tranny is dropping from 2nd to first when I'm stopped, or maybe it has something to do with all 8 cylinders kicking in when I come to a complete stop. Anyone experience this? Thanks!
snyds, how many miles or km are on your pickup???

I talked to the dealer the other day regarding this issue. They are sending a tranny specialist here to look at my truck next friday. They have replaced several torque converters due to faulty ones. They thought it was in the computer system at first but not are unsure and are sending someone to check ot out. Hopefully the can get this fixed and I will let you all know the outcome when I know something. Looks like right now they aren't wanting to put up a service bulletin or recall for this just yet. Anyway, anyone alse comes up with something let us know as it seems this is very common.

What whirlling/humming noise at about 55 mph? Now, I goose it when ever I am approaching 45 mph and don't let off until I'm over 60 mph. Problem solved! I have officially adapted to my truck.

Default New 2011 making same noise

I took mine back to the dealer last week and two technicians rode with me. They heard it, but said they didn't know if this was normal or not. I hope that it's not normal because it's annoying as heck! They told me to drive it and I have to take it back. The more experienced tech didn't think it was the torque converter. Most of the time, it is at low rpm, just before the eco light comes on, but it will also make the same sound in 4th and 5th. It is not a constant sound either. Annoying!

I have the 2500 model (no MDS) and experienced something similar to what your dealing with. Mine would howl right after it went into overdrive. sometimes I would hear it as it worked it's way up to overdrive.

The dealership, by recommendations from Chrysler engineering, replaced the torque converter and it solved the problem.

It took over 3 months worth of dealership visits, involvement from Chrysler Customer Care and engineering to finally come up with the solution.

They did, however, mention, before the torque converter replacement, that engineering was working on a re-flash to change the shift points in the transmission.
