Default Welcoming a new member to the family...(adoption FTW!)

I would like everyone to meet the newest member of the Morrison family...Z, meet Marv. Marv, The Z.

We adopted him from the Tacoma Humane Society today. He was $106. He is 94lbs, four year old Chesapeake Bay/Golden Retriever Mix. He is house trained, neutered, and very fun to have around.

He was surrendered to the Humane Society shelter by his previous owners. They left a letter with him. He was left because the couple had a baby that was crawling, and they were scared because of Marv's immense size, compared to a crawling infant. But more importantly than that, they were on military reassignment to Germany, and you cant take household pets there anymore without a 3 month quarantine in the US and then another 3 upon arrival in Germany, at the expense of the owners (about $4,000). Therefore, they had to give him up. We pick him up tomorrow at 9am, and then we are making a trip to PetCo. Dog Food Reccomendations anyone?

hes so cute... I love dogs as for food, I was buying Blue Buffalo Wilderness blend Duck flavor. My Pit Bull liked it $55 for a 24lb bag. I switched her to a different food though last month. This was a more personal thing with me than the food. I called the company to be added to the mailing list, they said to do it online, I told them I would be more than happy to but American Pit Bull Terrier is not an option in the dog breed selection. The lady began to tell me that it's not listed because its not an actual breed, its a mut. Well that pissed me off, I'm a dog lover and I'm very well versed in my dogs breed. Long story short it ended with me cussing this ignorant lady out and switching brands of dog food. lol. I switched to Before Grain, Buffalo, its about $50 for a 25lb bag and she loves it. I dont believe in buying cheap food. It had grain product that arent part of a dogs natural diet, there are tons of fillers. Thats not to say you cant get good food for then than what I pay though. I believe in food that is 100% grain free, high in protien and filled with food dogs would eat if they were in the wild like a wolf

Nice looking dog, did they I.D. chip him?

PetCo usually lets you take your animal in with you, maybe he has a preference in brands

Science Diet is a good brand of food, Natural Balance is another

go to the Petco website & download the coupons http://www.petco.com/

Awesome man, beautiful dog, congrats! I'm a dog lover myself and glad to see him go to a good home! Purina Beneful seems to be a winner at my house.

We went with Dog Chow, but if he doesnt like it we can change it.

My dad told me to give him 1 raw egg a week to help his coat shine. Any truth to this at all?

The egg thing kinda, it depends on the food, higher grade food you dont have to, with the Purina Dog Chow then yeah I would.
