Default Power steering pump pulley noise

Hey everyone I have been searching everywhere with someone with this similar problem but cam up empty or maybe im blind. I just bought this dodge ram 2 days ago its a 5.7 hemi 4x4 2004. When i picked it up it had what sounded like a belt squeal. When I looked at it the belt is brand new so I changed out both idler pullies because the looked a little wobbly and also changed out the belt tensioner. Still squeaking. started looking closer at the power steering pump pulley and the noise is coming from there and the pulley has a piece of the back lip broken off. I also had it running and started tapping on pulleys to see if the sound changed and when I tapped on the power steering pulley it stopped then started again. Is there bearings on that pulley. my power steering still works so im thinking its just the pulley. Also how the heck do I get it off seeing as it looks like its plastic and can I get it off without pulling the pump. Thanks for you help.

Glad you joined us and welcome to the Z for Rams from Baltimore . The p/s pump pulley requires a special puller . See if your local parts store has it to rent . Also if you could go to the top of the page to the User Cp and complete your profile that would be great . Helps us see what you have when your posting a question or comment . Do you have any pictures of your truck ? Have you done any mods or have plans for any ? Any of your friends have a Ram ? Tell them about us . We would love to have them . You will find this site is full of a lot of talented people . So if theres any question that you need answered , just shoot away . Talk to ya soon . Tom

Hello and welcome to the forum, glad to have you join us! Congrats on your truck, sorry to hear about your problem, though. I had the exact same thing happen to me with my Jeep, part of the pulley had been gouged out by some *cough* would be mechanic who changed my belt once. Like Tom said, that one requires a special puller which your local auto parts store should have for rent, so good luck and be sure to keep us posted! Any pics of your truck? We'd love to see it! Lots of great people and info here, so any help you need, just ask and I hope you enjoy the site!

First Post to the board. Hello fellow "Mopar Proformers"! I'm a Dodge truck owner through and through but I have a question about this one 2011 Ram 1500 4X4 . I'm tailoring this one and a TJ Wrangler for my family and myself. I know my way around the tool box and most of the things some scratch their heads over. But this question is about the Power steering belt pulley noise/squeal that will only go away if WD-40 is sprayed on the PWS belt pulley at the belt. Anyone have any ideas why this like to squeal? I'll post picks as I go along with the mods. I replaced the Idler pulley also does any one know what the part number of the Pulley is and where one can find one? Thanks.
