You can powder coat plastic. It is, however, a very different process from plating plastic. In this case though, you can powerder coat right over the chrome. In fact, you can use translucent powder coats to acheive a candy finish... haven't seen it on a Ram however.

I want to get a pair of wheels/tires for track days. thought they might have had some cool kind of look under the plastic, but maybe not.

Didnt know you could powdercoat plastic, how do they get around the whole oven baking process?

As long as it can withstand 400* for 15 minutes, you are good. I would have to believe they slightly warp.

I Painted mine... simple as scuffing up with a buffing wheel on a drill, hitting the missed places with sandpaper... clean off really well then an adhesive primer, paint, and clear. Been having for 3 months an still looks great.
