Default anyone swapped or modded a gen4 quad light?

I'm looking to get the black or smoked headlight look for my 09 ram. I believe I have the quads, from what I understand. And it is illegal here to have tint or covers on the front clear portion of the headlight. So I am looking to get the black interior (housing?) look.

I am OK with halo's, LED's and that sort of stuff that seems to come with all the aftermarket units, but I can live without them. I'm mostly interested in the dark, or black look to match the rest of my truck.

I have seen some whole assemblies for sale that say direct fit, no wiring needed... but then EVERYTHING I have heard and read claims just the opposite. I hear nothing but troubles and headache when it comes to the lights on this truck!

I've also heard of people opening their factory lights and painting them? ...But then I've heard that can lead to problems too...

So, has anyone around here SUCCESSFULLY swapped or modded an 09-11 quad light to give it that dark or color matched look??

PICTURES WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

I also know someone who does this for a side job. Many 3rd and 4th gen retro projectors.

Maybe try search here for projector retro, you will find some that are painted.

I have modded it,its a bitch to get apart. Some use the oven method and bake them enough where the glue gets soft and pulls them apart. You can destroy them very easily (meltage) Unique Coatings use to do them for a price,i dont know if they are still in buisness, they have some videos on youtube.

Hey thanks for the link! That stuff looks amazing! That is the sort of thing I'm looking for, I'm a little scared to jump into trying that myself though without more info.

Any idea of how I can contact that guy? ....he doesn't happen to be in Iowa is he?
