Default Stacks?

So, you guys are probably going to think me and my buddies are a bunch of rednecks, but that's alright. It's not completely untrue.

A buddy of mine has a 2010 with the 6.7 Cummins, and he wants to know if anyone has run stacks for theirs (and quite frankly, I'm pretty interested, too ). IF so, where and how?
He also wants to know if running a butterfly valve to a switch in the dash (to be able to choose whether the exhaust is running out the normal exhaust pipes or out the stacks) would be a viable option.

Been done plenty of time. My buddy fabed up most of the stuff for his himself.
To save a little space in the bed he used 3"x6" box steel, welded the ends closed and used a hole saw to cut his holes and welded the adapters to it.
He has tons of scrap metal laying around his shop so the only thing he bought were the tips.
Loading stuff (mostly quads and dirtbikes) into the bed of his truck vs. my others friends with stacks its the only way I would do stacks!
Because box tube has a little more resonance to it then your regular y pipe, I think it sounds alot better too

Only way the 6.7 will actually sound good is with a dpf delete and tuner too

With the 6.7L, to run stacks properly you do need to scrap the DPF. If you leave it on then the y-pipe would be about 1/3 of the way down the bed... not cool. The butterfly valve idea has been done on the 5.9Ls before with no issues, you just have to watch for soot buildup on the valve and it sticking after a while.

Forgot about the butterfly valve. I actually just saw a 5.9 last weekend with the setup you described. I did a double take cause I thought the stacks were non-functional when I saw the tailpipe. Looked tacky to me

Few more questions, though.
If he does decide to go with the butterfly valve, how would he go about cleaning soot off of it once it's all welded up?
And is deleting the DPF actually legal? Will you pass emissions without it?

In California you would NOT pass emissions without the DPF.
They are so sensitive, you may not even pass with a bad attitude...
