You should be able to fit a 33" tire easily, cranking the torsion bars will net you more clearance, but shouldn't need much. You MAY have issues with the tire bubbing on the control arm, but a 1/4" spacer would fix that, just since it's a 12.5" tire, but cross that bridge when you come to it.

You should be good, but realize that cranking your t-bars shouldn't be a permanent way to lift your front end. I would take a look at getting some Bilstein 5100s when you have a little extra $$ And if you do need the wheel spaces you can look arounnd $50- $100 a set.

You can't put Bilstein 5100's on an 02-05. I don't understand why, but they only work on 06 and up. And a torsion bar key that cranks them up to gain 2" in the front is a common leveling kit for early 3rd gen trucks.

With a leveling kit you should be fine with 33's, but like they said, you may need about a 1/4" spacer to clear the upper control arm because of the stock wheels.

You can find them damned near everywhere that sells auto parts, normally less than $20 for a pair, but as an example:

From my understanding, anything over a 1/4" spacer requires new studs as you need at least 8 full threads shown on your studs.

I am wondering if your buddy had an issue because he put the 2" spacers on without new studs giving him only maybe 4 full threads, which is not enough.

The reason is because you can't put coil-over shocks on the 02-05.

You may not need the 1/4" spacer, I run 35"x12.5"s with STOCK rims and not rubbing at all.
