Default Steering Box adjustment

I'm looking to adjust the play in my steering box as it is fairly sloppy and I was wondering what is the usual protocol? adjust until screw is tight and tighten lock nut? adjust until tight, back off 1/4 turn or more? any input would be much appreciated.

Check and make sure your steering components are good first . I'd adjust the play a 1/4 turn at a time if it's needed .

My expirence has been that the loosness is usually out side the box. Have you had someone turn the steering wheel while you look at the steering box and steering shaft? There repair kits for both. Also an examination of your steering componets may be in order.

Check the bushing in the intermediate link. My Ramcharger had to be rebuilt. (Just above the box...roll pin holds it in/together)
