Default Stroking a Hemi?

Hey guys. I've seen a bunch of power adders but i'm wondering if anyone here has just stroked a hemi. I don't know if anyone here watches the powerblock but on horsepower they tore apart a 5.7 out of a junked Ram. It got me thinking about stroking my motor so I found this on shophemi.com. Let me know what you think.

Bump.....I don't think I've seen anyone on this forum do it yet. My thinking is if you're shopping for a rebuild this would be a no-brainer.

We have a few stroked motors on here, but I mainly see it on the LX-based hemis.

I personally wouldn't stroke a 5.7L to that big... it's already a thin-walled block and I'd still want to have a dependable block. The most I'd go to would be a 392 (equiv 6.4L) and there are several kits out there. I'd look at InertiaMotorsports, they only build hemis and they do it very well. The have lots of upgrades as well to their stroker kits to fit different budgets.

I agree that stroking a 5.7 to a 6.7 is a stretch and sticking with a 6.4 would prob be a more reliable route but I don't know what stroking has to do with cylinder walls. He's not talking about boring it out to 6.7. If you look into a 1 liter jump in displacement from stroking I'd ask Stu if piston slap would be a problem.

You're right, I normally see people overboring and stroking, so it was an assumption on my part.

The guys in my LX club are crazy about stroking their 5.7 and 6.1s. Don's just took ownership of his new 6.4L, drove it for 2 hours to put it onto a train headed to Arrington We've got 3 stroked 5.7L based 392 and a few 6.1L based 426. One has even bored over and stroked his to a 440

Darrel's even a local guy '03 ram running a 392 turbo stroker on spray

I gotcha. I was looking at the Arrington site and not all the kits list bore and stroke so I was assuming that they were only stroke. I guess a .020 overbore might be assumed if reusing your own block vice a new shortblock.

Coming from the LX world not to long ago. The sky is the limit with stroking these hemi's now. Stu at Inertia was going to stroke my 5.7 in my charger to 400 before I decided to sell it. Guys at PWR are stroking to 410 and showing great numbers and realiability. Now if you want the baddest of the bad you go with a 6.1 block and then you can go up to 440 some are even going further with the new Aluminum blocks.

Its all on how big you wallet is bro. But gotta think about all the extras that come with a stroker
