Got an Inertia 400CI/6.5L stroker in my truck that Stu and I put together(mostly Stu), and I think the biggest he goes in a 5.7 is 407CI. I work for Inertia and do all their Texas installs, and every time I'm down to his shop it's littered with motors being built and Hemi parts all over the place. Even with a 5.7 bored and stroked to 400, it should still see 80-100K without a need for a rebuild. If you want a MAX life out of a stroker then I'd stick with a 5.7 based 370 or 6.1 based 392....personally I want MAX power and am willing to sacrifice a little life for a little more power. From a 370 to 400 is 30 cubes and probably 30+ HP.

Thanks for that info sawcut, it's great to have people who can chime in on this stuff. I think a 392 stroker might be in the works for me anyhow

You don't have to take your motor out for any of this do you? I would assume that it could be done underneath the truck..... also does this require a custom tune or similar?

You mean build a stroker? Hells yeah you have to remove it, dip it, machine it, build it, paint it, install it, and custom tune it.

If your thinking of stroking your 5.7L you should find your local Callies dealer and by it, rotating assembly, through them cause you will save yourself some money. Depending on the year of your truck you may have some tuning issues. I'm in the middle of sorting mine out right now and could use some opinions myself. This much i know, don't go to crazy with your cam if your a 2003-earlie 2004, because they are harder to tune for idle control. You will also need 6.1L injectors and a CMR Diablo tune. I tried using stock injectors and naturally Im running lean

Glad I found this thread!!!! I am lookin to stroke my hemi as well!! I have been lookin for all the info I could find. I am lookin to stoke it to a 392 Stroker, but 400 sounds so much more powerful!!! Who do I need to talk to about that and how much is the kit? Can I just buy the kit from them and git the machining done by my machinist?? If you can give me the prices for al of the kits!!!

I built probably the first Eagle based ram block 400ci Stroker, bought a balanced assembly from Inertia and dropped it in my 09 just make sure you get a huge cam or you will have a very low timing motor like what i have atm. The 400ci is a 6.6l it rounds up just like the 345 5.7l's...

I bought a balanced rotating assembly from stu is around 4k another 500$ for machine work and i would recommend using an ARP bottom end main stud/side stud kit anouther 250$ or you will rip the guts out of the bottom end on the factory bolts... Also if you plan on boost you need to drop the compression ratio to around 9:1... if no boost in the the future run a 11.1 cr.
