Default Ordered my LEER XL

I ordered my cap yesterday. Should be in about a month from now. I will post some pictures when it gets installed....

Would like some opinions on something else....The place I am getting the cap put on also does truck lifts. He told me he can level out my truck I think he said the front needs about a 2" lift to even it out with the rear. He will charge me $550.00 for material and labor, is that a good price? I am not doing it myself because I have no mechanical aptitude at all. Also will doing that void anything with my warranty? I only have about 8000 miles on the truck.

Thanks for the help.

As far as the Cap... Great choice! I'm just waiting to get the money together since I spent mine on a plow and leveling Shocks, which brings me to your other question... Since you said "I am not doing it myself because I have no mechanical aptitude at all." you are kind of at the mercy of what ever shop you decide to go to. What is he going to put on it to level it? The spacers are not even close to $500 so IMHO I think he is trying to rip you off. I installed the Firestone Level-Rite Air Shocks in a matter of 1.5 hours. I would be curious how much labor he is charging?

for $500 I would drive to Jersey and install them for you! LOL

As far as the warranty, I don't know. But even if you don't mod the suspension they would try anything to get out of paying for warranty work!

I would have to agree that that $500 dollars may be a bit high. I have not done any lifts yet on my 2500 Power Wagon (came with stock 2 in lift) but I had an tire 3 in lift plus leveling kit put on my last truck for about $350 installed. I think $500 is just too much for only a leveling kit. My 2 cents.

The kit he uses is the Ready Lift. THe cost of the kit is about $229.00. He is charging me $300.00 to install them and do an allignment. I am still debating on doing it or not.

Here is a before pic of the truck. The after will be in a few weeks when the cap comes in.

I might be mistaken but I don't think a leveling kit requires an alignment. There is nothing wrong with ready lift. They are nice. I just prefer the adjustable air shocks or bags. The install is very easy. It should take about 1.5 to 2 hours to do. You do need a jack or a lift to install it.

Well according to the shop, they send all vehicles for an allignment when they do any work changing the height of the vehicle. I am not well versed enough to understand but I am sure it will not hurt having it done.

Right. It can't hurt. However for a small lift like that its not really worth doing IMHO.

IMHO when you level your truck you always need to have the alignment checked! There are many threads about this giving the technical reasons for having your truck aligned after having it leveled..

Im not trying to be confrontational but, if that is the case then what about people that bagged their vehicles? Wouldn't they have to get an alignment every time they change their height, I think it's ridiculous for a 2" level, Just trying to save you some money if you really don't need it.
