That would be dependant on if you ruined the block. If the block is fine then any motor can be rebuilt. although buying a new one is not really as exspensive as one may think. I know for a 4.7 at Napa you can get it with the return of your old motor for core at around 1600.00 dollars, Or if you want to go to a junk yard to pick up one that may have low miles, prob right around 5 to 8 hundred, but be sure to take off all of your sensors from your old motor so you have them incase one is bad on the engine you get. Hard lesson that I have already had the privalge learning. Take it easy

without knowing a lot more, it is difficult to even make a guess about your engine

first is or was your engine running when you decided it was in bad shape
is there any holes in the block that don't belong there, like a rod knocking a hole in the block
has the engine ever been rebuilt before, a lot of engine blocks can be rebuilt 2 or even 3 times, depending on the thickness of the cylinder walls,
are there any visible or INVISIBLE cracks in the block or heads

there are many other considerations to be taken into account, but, i think that i covered the main ones

your motor is a new 4.7 it should not have the flaws the the old ones have. i know if you rebuild it the rocker arms are dif and a lot of other stuff has bigger oil ports and junk like that. your 08 should be fine. as long as you dont dog the Hell out of it, like the guy did mine.

the 08's are fine, but as far as to say rebuild your motor, i'd have to see some pics of it, i dont know what you need to do it though, is it a rod knock? lifter tick? sometimes a cracked flywheel can sound like a rod knock, pretty much just need details i bored mine over .020'' and put new heads on it and it and i've no problems with it at all, but i did have some problems with it before the bore, the motor sludged up and pop a rocker arm off, got two new heads (well i though i did) and and it fixed that....then
the intake valve seat on the #6 came out and hit the piston, got a free head for that side since it was under warranty....piston was fine no major damage, then i melted Piston #7 because my injector wasn't plugged in completely and the comp didn't detect it, i going to flash my PCM back to a 2002, because ever since the Dealer did it in 2004, i've had nothing but troubles since they flashed it, but as far as it being repaired it can do it, i have plenty of rebuild photos, and i have the ENTIRE 2002 dodge ram book. the one Dodge gives to the dealer that tells them EVERYTHING about the Truck it took up 5 2in ringed binders i can e-mail it to you i'f you like it
