Default Mud flaps for a 2011

So, went into my local truck accessory shop to see about getting some flaps on my 2011 Ram. Guy that runs the shop has a 2010 Ram, so his first thought was the Weather Tech flaps.

So I ask him, do they install over the black plastic that is already in the wheel well, or do you remove the plastic first. He got a puzzled look on his face as went from his truck over to mine.

Long story short, he called 3 of his suppliers...Weather Tech, Husky, and one other and none of them have flaps to work with the (apparently new for 2011) plastic piece on the wheel well.

Anyone here have a 2011 with the black plastic piece on the bottom of the well? Have you found a flap to fit? I would actually prefer a flat flap so I don;t get any chaffing or water/gunk trapped in the contoured ones.

There isnt one. Only solution is to cut, or remove the plastic piece. I have a set of mopar flaps. they go in place of the plastic, and work quite well.

Dittto, here I put the Mopar mud guards on my 2011 Sport. The plastic pieces are removed but the guards cover it up and it looks great.

Did you guys install those yourself? Are they a no-drill flap?

Thanks!

I DIY'd, Part number for OEM flaps (the ones that fit on standard rams, if you have factory fender flares these wont fit): 82212287

82212210 will not fit standard rams, only the ones with flares.

here is my How-to:

http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread....125#post465125.

took me 20 mins to install both. Worth the $45. I did not drill, its optional, the way I see it.

Weather techs fit fine over the pieces of plastic, but they are the contoured ones. Flat or not, you are going to get stuff trapped between the body and flap. They are contoured to over the plastic piece. No drilling required.

I have the molded mopar flaps as well and they really look great.

As for as drilling is concerned , the rear flaps really dont require the hole to be drilled out because it is between 2 other screws that secure the flap into the wheel well. (I drilled it anyway)

The front flaps really should be drilled and screwed because that hole is located all the way at the top edge of the flap, without this screw the molded plastic can gap away from the fender.

edit: see the PDF installation guide for the front flaps here http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-...=3163&pc=64701

I have the weathertech no drill mud flaps. I had no install issues, and they look good.

I bought the Mopar flaps.
They look like they are meant for the truck (because they are)
The dealer installed them for free for me (bonus)
