Rears are easier, IMO, dont have to remove the side steps for those.

Threw a set of these on my 2011 today. Couple quick notes:

1) Overall, installation was pretty easy...definitely not worth paying the $80 to $120 labor I was quoted by two separate dealerships.

2) The rears are very easy to install. All factory holes since there is no need to drill the middle bolt the instructions say to add...seemed unnecessary to me.

3) The fronts were a bit trickier for two reasons:

a) Major hang up was the plastic expandable "nut" they provide does NOT fit into the factory hole located on the underside of the rocker panel. It looks like the "nut" was designed for an elongated hole but the truck has a small circular hole in it. To prevent drilling, I just bit the plastic "nut" to compress it a bit, and then used a hammer to tap it into place. Still not 100% secure, but certainly sufficient.

b) You do have to drill a hole for the top screw on the front flaps. I know Army said he did not have the balls to do so, but if you do not secure the top flap hole, the flap will flop around a bit, and it will end up causing more problems than it solves.

I couldn't believe all the sand, dirt, etc between the factory plastic (that I had to remove to install flaps) and the paint. My truck has less than 600 miles on it and has been washed four times!

I remember on my 2000 Ram, that when I sold it with less than 36,000 miles on it, one of the flap holes had already rusted out. Would have thought 11 more years of engineering would have brought improvements with regard to trapping water/debris against steel surfaces...but, in fact, my 2011 has many more plastic-meets-metal points where rusting is just a matter of time. That part really sucks.

Nice write-up. I would add some paint protection film between the paint and the mud flap. Other than that, spot on!

I agree with the paint film. I used a 3M product from Walmart. Some kind of packing tape or something. Thick enough and strong enough to not have those annoying scrape marks.

I ended up removing them about 500 miles later, and using 3m Adhesive trim tape (double sided) where the edges meet the paint. There was already some light damage where they had rubbed. Luckily it came right out with some Meguiar's ultimate compound and a 3" orbital with an orange pad.
