Thanks RamTX---yeah the kit doesn't quite do it for me, fine for most but I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to AV, I own a home AV company and it has to be right or It's going to constantly bother me.

So I have the premium sound in mine, 10 speakers and sub with alpine amp, from the factory including steering wheel controls. However I have the basic RES/RSC non-touch screen radio with sat and uconnect. Would that sony unit work as a direct swap and was there any trimming of the bezel ? That unit looks wicked and I don't care about loosing the lousy Unconnect or sat. Also what is the going rate for that unit ?

I honestly can't say if this would work in your application, my first hunch would be anything can be made to work but it won't be a plug and play type of deal, you will need some type of interface if you want to retain all that stock equipment. My general experience has always been that the best stock stereo in the world doesn't sound half as good as a descent aftermarket set up. As for the work involved, it looks like it just slid in there (and that was the idea) but the dash is actually modified and fabricated then repainted to the factory color to look perfect. Not for the faint of heart. As for the price on the Sony. Around $1000 for the head unit...150 for the back up cam, 150 for the front cam, 150 for the HD Radio module. $120 for the Cam Bus interface.

So I picked up the same Sony head unit minus the NAV, got a great deal on it. My question to the OP is how that bezel was actually done. You mentioned some custom work. I really like the clean flush look and would rather not have the side fillers. What actually needs to be done to have it look like yours ?

Thanks GT, I was on Crutchfields site and could not find a bezel, only filler kits. Also, which installer site are you referring to ? Perhaps PM me some links if you don't mind. thks

Ransram- you picked up the same Sony unit minus the nav? It has built in nav so I'm a little confused what you mean?

As for the dash work, when I said custom in the heading that is just what I meant. We used bonds, resin, automotive dash paint and a Dremel with a steady hand. There is no kit that will give as clean a look. At least not that I'm aware of.

I picked up the XAV-70BT, it has everything but the NAV. You have the XAV-700BT with the NAV. It has the same dimensions. I figured you did a custom job on the bezel, I would love to have the same one however guess it's one of a kind. You did a great job and I love the way it fits and looks. I have ordered the adapter kit so it will have the fillers on each side since this unit is not as wide as the factory unit. I'll live with that for now. Thanks for your reply.
