Default Lets take action on gas prices . I'm in .

I got this in a e-mail this evening and just trying to pass the word around .

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY. I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by this summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON, MOBIL AND CITGO. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers.

It's really simple to do! I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!

lol... this is a fallacy....

the govt is getting upwards of 60 cents per that $4/ gallon gas, whereas the oil companies aren't getting more than 15 cents a gallon profit... maybe you should put your effort elsewhere

btw i am a petroleum geologist, so i have some expertise on this subject

also shell and exxonmobil are the two largest publicly traded companies in the world, but exxonmobil is slowly pulling its franchise licenses from the retail market

additionally, almost all retail stations are privately owned, and refineries produce gasoline for many many brands of stations (ie, just because u are buying shell gas doesnt mean it was refined by shell, or is out of a shell owned oil well). refineries refine gasoline in batches, and add the additives to each of these batches to accommodate each "brand" of gas. this is why all the bullshit we wont buy bp gasoline didnt matter to bp stock prices... hell i got my 3% from my BP stock this quarter

if you want cheap gas, get the drilling ban's lifted, and start encouraging exploration within our boarders and our friends... we have the oil, we are just limited by the environmentalists on where we can drill

OK Then.....Buy your gas in a different country! If that doesn't get the governments attention, I don't know what would.
Hmmmm.....how about Canada! Here it's cheap at $4.35/galUS.

BTW - My ex-brother-in-law was/is a petroleum geologist, and I always referred to him as a 'Rock Polisher', so if that slips out, please don't take offense, as it is not meant to be. Him and I got along very well, his sister on the other hand.......well, I did refer to him as 'EX'.

X11ty billion.

Besides, "boycotting" does nothing as the gas producer just sells it to another gas company. That company puts their additives (or water depending on who it is) into the gas and then sells it to you at the local Apu Mart.
