Wow, that doesn't sound right. First off I'd feel for pressure in the upper radiator hose. While it's warming up, the hose will build pressure and... supposedly... the thermostat will engage and the pressure will release, just try that out. I'm wondering if it's simply defective or they shipped out the wrong one.
