Default 2011 RT Rear End Change?

I have a 2011 Ram RT with the 4:10 rear end and I'm thinking about changing to a 3:55 or 3:21. I know you can get a SLT with the 3:21. Is the torque converter and transmission in the SLT the same as the RT? The local Ram dealer recommends the 3:55. I like the 3:21 for gas mileage. Any thoughts?

They both use the 545RFE transmission. The 3.21 is going to cripple your acceleration though and around town your mileage may not improve because the engine will have to work harder to get you up to speed. If you do a lot of interstate driving then the 3.55 gear would be a good choice.

If you were near me, I'd just swap you gears, i've been wanting 4.10s for a while. You may be able to find a member who'd be willing to do a swap with you.

No offense, but who does this?!?! I mean you buy a special truck (an R/T) designed for speed, with the BENEFIT of those 4.10 gears, and you want to swap it for a 3.21? You might be the most odd person I've ever met. Why didn't you just buy a stock base ST? I mean your re-sale value for that thing plummets to nothing because you're taking away one of the major reasons for that truck being what it is.

I smell a lot of people wanting to take advantage of the guy. Maybe he doesn't realize what he is really doing. You understand that if he swaps the gears on an RT with 3.21 , it's worth virtually nothing in resale as an RT, unless he lies and hides it right?
