That sucks and I found out yesterday when I took my truck in for service, apparently I have had a visitor under my hood as well. They finished up with my truck and the tech comes in and asks if I have a dog. I say yeah, why? They found dry dog food in my air filter, which was obviously a big surprise to me as I don't live rural and cane season is over for now, WTH??? It wasn't there two weeks ago when they changed my oil and popped the cover on the filter, so it's relatively recent but still ticks me off and the service adviser did mention they like the injector harness as well so I know I'll be keeping an eye out as well, probably put one of those sticky traps in there and see what happens. Seems there should be some type of screen one could use that wouldn't block air flow but would keep the critters out. I like the moth ball idea, too, though.

I use Bounce dryer sheets. Squirrels also love to eat air filters and chew on wiring. My neighbor had his Chev 3/4 tons wiring harness chewed through and my air filter on my last truck was eaten out with less than 1k miles on it.

If you can get ac power to the truck, buy the electronic bug machine, Home depoe has them, very cheap. Have used them in MH and shop for over 20 years and never had a problem. The high freq noise runs them off. just put in under the hood

The worst is rabbits. For some reason they really like spark plug wires, and somehow manage to get under the hood of my 81 d150 every winter and eat the wires. This winter I pulled the plug wires before storage.

Sticky traps without bait work very well for catching mice. Put some 3m 2 sided tape on the back and stick it on the mice runways.

lol happened to my R/T at 1200 kms. Chewed #1 and #3 injector wires from the plug at the injector right down to the main harness. Had to peel open harness to tap into wires and run new wiring to injectors but still dont have proper plugs. All the foam under my engine cover was gone. I was pissed. After that nonsense half a box of moth balls under my truck in my parking spot and a couple moth balls on my intake seem to keep them away. Was thinking about leaving some cat food near my place to keep the local stray cats near my place. The odd piece of cat shit here and there is better than a chewed wiring harness on my R/T. The ram has 2300km on it now and has been is storage since november and my storage guy has pest control but when i dumped a box of mothballs under my truck he lol'd and thought i was a little anal but i dont want to deal with that again.
