What do you guys think. Now that I am graduating school in 2weeks and have the 34s I plan on doing alot of wheeling like I did w/ my last truck. These would be not just for show. (Although I do love the way drings look on a truck ) And my good friend is a custom fabber so I trust his welds to be strong just wanted to see what your guys expercience if any w/ weld ons is. Some guys on my club have em on their TJs and Yjs but a half ton truck weighs just a little more lol.

I'm assuming you're talking about the weld-on D-ring tabs, correct? Your link doesn't take ya there btw. Yes, you can still use these, I wouldn't go anything less than a full 1/4" fillet though to keep the shear stress if you start sideloading the tab any. You have to pay close attention to where you'd mount these, if you can get a piece of HSS welded to the frame and gussetted, then you should have no problems, OR you can get them welded right into the stock tow hook location, but then you could start rubbing the hell outta your bumper if you leave the shackles on.

Woops my fault thanks for pointing that out http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/...egory_Code=DPL these. And I was planning on putting em where the stock location I think is. Right between lower and upper bumper (if you have an slt between the body color and chrome) I have that black plastic out anyway for the pos hooks I have in there now. And about smacking the bumper up I was thinking about just wrapping them w/ electric tape and seeing if that works I really dont care if it looks rigged like that or I could always just leave em in the truck unless Im wheeling lol

I'd leave the shackles in the truck until you need them, they'll flop around and even with tape on them they'll dent the bumper, unless you don't care about that of course.

Im more worried about a crack in the chrome resulting in rust lol but ill prob just take some nice pics w/ the rings in then leave em in the cab til I hit the trails lol

I wouldn't leave the d-rings on. I got annoyed with them clanking haha

Another option that I was considering was welding hitch receiver to a bracket and bolt it to where the stock tow hooks are. This way you could have multiple quick change attachments such as d-rings, a push bar etc.

The Drings and tabs came today my dumbass failed to measure the space between the upper and lower bumper and the tabs wont fit. My question now is if I have to trim the tabs a little will I be losing alot of rating on them you guys think. And my other option the front receiver hitch does that peek out between the 2 bumpers where the tow hooks would go or underneath the truck?

The tensile strength of the bracket basically comes from how much surface area is welded. So yeah it will but if its just a bit it should hurt to much.
The curt front hitches actually come out underneath the bumper and you have to trim the black plastic valence
I have seen one that you can mount in the opening of your grill where the stock hooks are, I'm gonna do some looking around to find it.

Bodiak is the other kind I couldnt remember

The companies website doesnt seem to be working so getting a hold of one could be tough
