Default Mobil 1 Extended Performance

Does anyone use this? What about the filter? Mobil1 claims that you only need to change your oil every 15k miles.

I've got in my engine right now as an experiment to see how well it does. I only have about 2500 miles on it so far and I plan to pull a valve cover around 5k and every 1500 or so after that to make sure everything is still clean. I recommend Wix, Purolater, K&N or another name brand filter with the exception of Fram. I don't like they way they're made and I won't use them.

I agree with that ^^^^ on the test and checking.

I used Mobil 1 in a GM LT1 in a '95 ImpalaSS for 140K miles before I tore it down to do a 383 stroker. The engine main bearings, cam bearings and crank journals were in fantastic shape!

I changed my oil every 6,000 miles with that forumlation.

I use a Mobil 1 filter. Should I just change the filter at 5k or let it go for the 10k - 15k miles with the oil? If the oil really does last this long I should only need to change my oil once a year.

RamTech I saw your thread after I posted. Its amazing what you find when you search, but I didnt see you mention any filter changes before changing out the oil.

I'm as yet undecided but I may change it at 5000 miles and top off the oil. I don't do a lot of off road driving so the filter isn't a huge concern at this point.

I do about 85% highway driving and I dont drive hard. Please post if you do or dont change the filter at the 5k mark. I think when I need to change my oil again Im going to use the Extended Performance, I just want to know everything I can before then.

I run Mobil 1 Synthetic 5w20 in my 2010. Also run Mobil 1 Synthetic 5w30 in my 2006 Trailblazer SS (factory recommended oil). I change oil every 5000kms, mostly because I drive a lot of short trips and don't get the engine to operation temperature.
