How much backlash and pinion bearing preload did you have when you set up the rear end?

Idk about the backlash and all. Just tightend Until I had minimal play without being tight and bustingthe pinion gear. The only thing Im worried about is i wad to use my inpack gun the tighten the pinion nut to take the slop out of the bearings. As soon as it went away i stopped. I didnt use any shims cause none came out. I filled with valvaline limited slip and spun axle by hand for about 20 min from each side to get the fluid all around b4 putting power to it. There are no noises or play anywhere until i let off the throttle and thats is when it whins.

There's your problem - You didnt set up the rear end properly and one or more of the specs are out. Could be backlash, pinion TTR, pinion depth...

Ok! I had it close but not right. My backlash was off which when i let off the throttle the rear end started driving the tranny. Repositioned and set it to basically nothing, could hear the play in it but u cant see it at all!! I learned alot in a few hrs. Thx alot.

Zero backlash is bad too. You need to be between .005-.008"

Sounds like the bearing preload and backlash were off.

How's it running now?
